I just watched the Reggae Boyz under-20 team play against st maarten . The boyz lock of concentration and strategic play in last 15 minutes of first half was very telling. They tried to play combination play into the opponent’s half. They kept passing the ball into traffic and often tried to change the ball to their right foot, in order to shoot.
This is a major issue with all our teams, strategic play. Instead of playing into the middle they should be playing out wide and finishing the crosses into the box. I think this tendency is due to playing a lot scrimmage ball. They can’t see the big picture. Playing out wide and switching the point of attack is number one strategy to score goals on this planet. But for us it’s a challenge to stick with this strategy the whole game.
