MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Mt Salem Primary and Granville All-Age completed the semi-finals frame of the St James Football Association VMBS Under-13 competition after contrasting quarter-final wins over Chetwood Primary and Flanker Primary, respectively, at the UDC Field yesterday.
Mt Salem beat Chetwood 4-3 on penalty kicks after they played out a 0-0 draw in the first game and ended up on identical statistics of four points and a plus-four goal difference, necessitating a shoot-out to decide the winners of Group One.
In the second game, Granville beat Flankers 3-0 to win Group Three.
In Tuesday’s semi-finals set for the UDC Field, Granville will play Mt Salem in one game, while Howard Cooke and Corinaldi Avenue Primary, who had qualified earlier in the week, will meet in the other game.
The final will be played next Friday.
After the 0-0 draw in the first game yesterday, Granville extended their perfect run to five games as they dominated Flankers with goals from Leo Campbell in the fifth minute as they led 1-0 at half-time. Desroy Campbell then made the scores 2-0 in the 33rd minute before Demar Peterkin got a third goal in the 38th.
It was Chetwood Primary’s first loss all season, snapping their winning run of six games.
